1: Portfolio Proposal
This assignment is about putting together a portfolio to highlight what I can do as an audio post producer. I figure the best way is to include a few projects I've worked on and tie them back to the kind of job I'm aiming for. The first one involves a track I recorded, mixed, and mastered, mostly using Pro Tools. That should give a clear idea of the hands-on skills needed, like handling the software right. It seems straightforward, but I might not have everything perfect yet. For the second project I created a track in Ableton, this was more about getting creative with the DAW, experimenting a bit. I think that shows I can think outside the box while keeping things structured. For the third project, I did some audio postproduction on an animation clip. I added sounds using both Ableton and Pro Tools, which felt a little tricky at times. This one links to working with visuals, like how audio fits into video stuff. Some people might overlook that side of engineering, but it’s important. Overall, these projects connect to the role, even if the explanations get a bit messy here.
For the planning stage, i will create explanations of how these artefacts are relevant to my chosen role of audio post producer. I am going to use a work breakdown sheet to explain the process and steps that maybe required to finish these projects, as well as show timescales and explanations of the tasks, i am also going to be using a GANTT chart to work out the estimated overall timescale for these 3 projects.
The development stage is going to consist of making a website for my portfolio, explaining what will be in my portfolio and a recap of the different units that I was taught this year. I am also going to write and introduction to explain the purpose of the portfolio and why each of the artefacts are relevant to my chosen job role. I am going to include a copy of my CV which shows the skills and abilities I have gained from college and any other past experiences working within this field. I am going attach supporting documents for the artefacts.
For my evaluation stage i am going to take a step back and look at and compare my progress to my plan to see how closely i stuck it and if it changed anything throughout my work. I am going to critically reflect on my work and note what went well and what I would do again differently also see what could have been done better and how it could have helped my work progress better.

3: Artefacts for Inclusion
Artefact 1 – Recording Project – Beabadoobee If you want to Cover
For my second artefact i will use my recording project from the recording and mixing assessment for my graded unit. This shows my ability in recording live sounds, including instruments and vocals As well as working within a time limit, managing studio sessions and also being able communicate with the client, this also shows my ability to mix my recordings and make them sound as good as they can and reach there max potential. This project also allows me to show off my knowledge of mic techniques as I will be recording in both stereo and mono, I will also be using different mic placements to bring out different sounds for my recordings. The track will show my knowledge of polar patterns as I will be recording in cardioid and super cardioid. This project also displays my ability in working within a studio as I will oversee setting the levels of the gain before recording as well as making sure the signal flow has been routed correctly and efficiently. This also shows my ability with working with others and being able to collaborate with artists. This also shows how I can work towards a deadline as wells as my ability to use a studio and session arrangement. This will also show my ability in mixing and mastering as I will level the mix and will be using EQ to make the sound which I want from the recordings, I used some effects like compressions, delay and reverb, once again to create the perfect sound for my project, I also used Melodyne for pitch correction on the vocals just to make it sound more in tune with the rest of the mix.
Artefact 2 – multimedia project – Heinz beans animation clip
For my third artefact I've chosen my multimedia project. For this project I will be creating an original score for a piece of media so this will show my creative abilities and also show my abilities in sound design editing. This project will also once again show off my ability to work within a timescale. I will use layering As well as EQ, compression, and automation to reach the sound I desire out of the project. This will also highlight my ability to work towards a goal and show that I am motivated to finish my work. This project will show skills I have gained through all the units I have completed so far such as using a DAW as for this project I will be using Ableton, using markers to label where certain sounds will be going, automation as well as panning, balancing, levelling and mixing.
Artefact 3 - Daw Track
For my graded unit I used the DAW track project from DAW - synthesis and sampling. It's a good way to show what I can handle overall, like dealing with deadlines and starting a track from scratch. I got creative with my project and tried experimenting with new things I haven't tried prior. This also displays my creative ability, my ability in making tracks and my sound design skills. In this assessment I had to ensure that I was using certain effects on the track, using a sampler use of two synth patches I made by myself, use of automation As well as using midi and recorded aspects. This artefact will show some of the skills which i learned from this unit including automation, sampling using a sampler instrument, creating synth patches made on different types of synthesizers, organisational and file management skills shown by my workflow. I will show my MIDI skills by recording notes with a MIDI keyboard and arranging them using MIDI sequencing in the track. I will also demonstrate my mixing skills by using EQ and dynamic effects to improve the overall sound. During the mixing stage, I will EQ the samples and instruments and adjust the levels to make sure the track sounds clear and balanced to a professional standard. As I will be working on the project at both college and at home, I will organise a folder on my external hard drive, so all sessions, recordings, and samples are easy to find and access.
